Taking The Bully By The Horns
By: Noll, Kathy; Carter, Jay
Published by: Electronic & Database Publishing, Inc.
Taking the Bully by the Horns is an award-winning book. Author, Kathy Noll, her book, and her work helping children have won her Toyotas Moving Forward Award, and Glamour Magazines Woman of the Year Award for: Saving Childrens Lives, Making the World a Better Place, and Empowering Those in Need. This book has helped many victims of bullying, and made positive changes in the lives of both the victims and bullies, as the personal testimonies continue to stack up. Taking the Bully by the Horns is the childrens version of Dr. Jay Carters best-selling book, Nasty People, which sold millions of copies all over the world. It is different from other books on bullying because most bullying books that are out now are either childrens fiction, or simply a long list of statistics only adults would be interested in that you can easily find on the internet. This book is Self-help. Its intended for children to read themselves, since it is written in first person and speaks directly to the child/young teen. It could also be read to a class by a teacher, or shared with a younger child by a parent. Even adults have benefitted from reading the book, to help themselves with their own bullying and self-esteem issues. It is not only designed to help the victim, but is also the only book that has a chapter speaking directly to the BULLIES. The author reforms the bullies as well so we can stop what she calls in the book, "The Bully Cycle." Bullying creating more bullies. Many bullies started out as victims who were victimized to the point where they couldn't take it anymore, stopped caring, lost all hope, and became "the bully" themselves. Follow author Kathy Nolls hints and suggestions, and you will gain the power to eliminate the difficult bully worries in your life! It will give you an insight to bullies, victims, and reactions. What Women Want--What Men Want
By: Townsend, John Marshall
Published by: Oxford University Press - USA
Following the work of E. O. Wilson, Desmond Morris, and David Buss, What Women Want--What Men Want offers compelling new evidence about the real reasons behind men's and women's differing sexual psychologies and sheds new light on what men and women look for in a mate, the predicament of marriage in the modern world, the relation between sex and emotion, and many other hotly debated questions. Drawing upon 2000 questionnaires and 200 intimate interviews that show how our sexual psychologies affect everyday decisions, John Townsend argues against the prevailing ideologically correct belief that differences in sexual behavior are "culturally constructed." Townsend shows there are deep-seated desires inherited from our evolutionary past that guide our actions. In a fascinating series of experiments, men and women were asked to indicate preferences for potential mates based on their attractiveness and apparent economic status. Women overwhelmingly preferred expensively dressed men to more attractive but apparently less successful men, and men were clearly inclined to choose more attractive women regardless of their professional status. Townsend's studies also indicate that men are predisposed to value casual sex, whereas women cannot easily separate sexual relations from the need for emotional attachment and economic security. Indeed, wherever men possess sexual alternatives to marriage, and women possess economic alternatives, divorce rates will be high. In the concluding chapter, Townsend draws upon the advice of couples who have maintained their marriages over the years to suggest ways to survive our evolutionary predicament. Lucidly and accessibly written, What Women Want--What Men Want shows us why we are the way we are and brings new clarity to one of the most intractable debates of our time.
